Zambian Politicians Comedians

Sometimes I am intrigued by the attitude of Zambian politicians, especially the presidents. During the dawn of multipartism in the 1990s, and the formation of Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) as the opposition to the then Dr Kaunda's rule with his party called UNIP, comedy took center stage. When Kaunda was heavily challenged by the new party, MMD, he resorted to comedy and called MMD as a "Movement of Mandrax Dealers".

This did not end here. Years later before the demise of Mwanawasa, he too ridiculed his opponent the late Anderson Mazyoka of UNPD. Mwanawasa said that there was no way the backside (buttocks) can surpass the front. The backside will always be behind. This meant that Mazyoka will never over pass Mwanawasa, and that Mazyoka will always be behind.

Here now comes the current president Rupiah Banda, comedy continues. A few weeks ago, Banda was quoted in the media saying that Sata was so urgly that he scares away children with his big red eyes. Sata replied that Banda was so urgly especially with his big belly and big urgly cheeks.

Later on during the Kasama by-election, when Banda was addressing a rally and when the rally was distrubed by PF cadres (Sata's party), it was quoted in the media President Banda saying "Vionani Vionani Vipuwa Ivwo" (meaning look at those crazy people). It is all comedy.

More is to come.
